Appointments System

You may visit the surgery or telephone 0208 504 7364 to make an appointment.

Our lines are open each week day from 08:00 to 18:30. You may book to see a doctor or a nurse of your choice up to 4 weeks in advance.

We also have appointment slots available to book on the same day. In this way we can provide a service should you need to see a clinician on the same day you make an appointment. We have access to GPs, Nurse Practitioners, Paramedics and Pharmacists and our receptionists will direct you to the most appropriate clinician for your problem.

It is advisable to call at 08:00 to access a same day appointment.

We do understand that it may be difficult to get through but we are working very hard to answer your calls quickly. Should the telephone message advise you that you are held in a queue, please hold the line and your call will be answered, in order, as soon as a receptionist is available.

If you book a telephone consultation, a clinician will assess your case over the telephone and advice will be given. You may also be offered a video (AccuRx) consultation.

We try to run our clinics on time, but occasionally they do overrun. Please assist us by attending your appointment on time. If you are more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, you may not be seen.

Our Appointments

We offer a range of telephone and face to face appointments that can be booked or on the day or up to 4 weeks in advance. The receptionist may ask the nature of your problem when booking your appointment in order to direct you to the most appropriate clinician or service.

Extended Hours and Weekend Appointments

Evening and weekend appointments are available at the Hub in Buckhurst Way, Buckhurst Hill, IG9 6HP. Please contact the surgery for further information or to book an appointment.

Try the NHS App

If you’re a patient at our practice, you can use the NHS App to access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet.

It doesn’t replace existing services. You can still contact us in the usual ways.

But, once you have verified your identity in the app, you will have easy, 24/7 access to a growing range of health services and information. You can:

  • order repeat prescriptions
  • access NHS 111 online
  • find NHS services
  • view your health records
  • book appointments
  • and much more…

If you have any problems using the NHS App, you can select ‘help’ in the top right-hand corner of the app or visit nhs.uk/helpmeapp.

Home Visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 12:00 noon.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls

You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.

Cancel an Appointment

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.

You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.

Late For Your Appointment

Please attend your appointment on time, if you are late you may not be seen. If you are not seen you will not be able to rearrange your appointment until the next working day-except in the event of an medical emergency that requires immediate attention.

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.

Interpreter

If you require an interpreter to attend with you when you see your doctor please notify the receptionist and she will arrange this for you.

Chaperone

Please ask at reception or inform the doctor or nurse if you require a chaperone. Additionally, the clinician may request a chaperone. Our chaperones may be a member of the reception or admin team, however they have all received appropriate training.

If the clinician requests a chaperone, but you would rather a chaperone was not present, you will be offered the choice of booking an appointment with an alternative clinician.
